Coastal Chrome!

I took a personal day Friday and made the long drive down to Trinidad, California where my brother, Jason, lives and works as a crab fisherman. We were able to spend some time out on Redwood Creek, which is now seeing the last of it's winter steelhead run. I was lucky enough to connect with this little wild beauty for a couple of photos before releasing her back into the river. It was fun seeing the area and fishing, but hanging out with my little bro for a couple of days was needed. Looking forward to doing it again. Tight Lines!

Way to take the early lead Jake!

What a sweetheart that little beauty was. You know we were fishing less than two miles from the mouth where I caught that fish. They don't get much more fresh than that! My brother made a good point: Fishing for migratory fish out in the desert is something else! But fishing for them where you can still see and hear the surf is something else all together. We fished along that same river 200 yds from the mouth - waves crashing, seagulls everywhere and a group of about a dozen sea lions camped out on the opposite bank. Pretty cool.

p.s. A little bird told me that in 3 - 5 weeks the Rogue River is going to pumping out some big numbers.

Were you able to eat any crab while you were down there?

No crab while I was there. THis has been the worst season for crab in 30 years. Just not a lot of crabs hitting the pots, and the weather have kept the boats moored for days on end. Hopefully it will pick up for those boys soon.... I sure love crab!

Here's some fun anyone can have if you get board:

Pull up google earth and search Trinidad California (41° 3'39.35"N 124° 8'28.14"W). Once you have the location, pull back so you can see the larger area. Make sure you have Geographic Web selected in your layers and look around (to the north and a little east of trinidad for a bunch of small dots. Some are photos you can look at (blue ones) and others are info links with web pages (orange ones). Try this area: 41°22'39.21"N 123°45'5.60"W.

So when you click on those (maybe double click) a window pops up with a web address. Click on the web address and read about what people have been seeing out in them thar hills. Pretty creepy stuff - - fun!

You don't have to look that far away. Look just west of Madras, Oregon on Google Earth. There are dozens of bigfoot sightings reported there as well. In fact, there is even one posted right in the town of Madras.

You have been to Madras, right? Well a bigfoot sighting right there in town does not seem all that strange. I've seen those Madras women folk.
